“Memories of the Human Forest. Abyssal Histories of Colonial Violence During the Rubber Boom”
We are pleased to share the article “Memories of the Human Forest. Abyssal Histories of Colonial Violence During the Rubber Boom” by Wilton Martínez, just published in the first issue of the Revista Académica +MEMORIA(S) of the Lugar de la Memoria, la Tolerancia y la Inclusión Social.
The article revisits the atrocities committed by the rubber barons in the Putumayo region through a selection of oral, written, filmic, and museographic testimonies and reflects on the need to historicize indigenous memories through pedagogical, commemorative and justice strategies, vital ways to heal the past and to respond to the call of the future.
